Optimize Totals

Description

The Optimize Totals switch activates the NONEMPTY function, but does so only when Totals are turned on within the query.

• Using Optimize Totals does NOT trigger column or row optimization.
• Using Optimize Columns or Optimize Rows does NOT trigger the Optimize Totals feature.
• Optimize Totals can have a dramatic improvement on totaling performance and overall query speed.
• The NONEMPTY function will not be activated if there is only one hierarchy in the totals function.

Usage Tips

The Optimize Total switch can be turned ON when needed for improving query results.

Access Methods

There are several ways to turn ON this optimization switch.

• Open Query Options in Query Ribbon and select Optimize Totals.
• Open Home Ribbon (or Query Ribbon), open Totals, and select Optimize Totals.
• Open Home Ribbon (or Query Ribbon), open Totals, select More Total Options, click on Advanced Option tab, and select "Optimize Totals" checkbox.
